The terracotta warriors of the Qin Dynasty are one of China’s most important historical symbols, representing power, staunchness and loyalty. The gate in the painting, with auspicious imagery such as rosefinches, represents the gate of our country. Borrowing the imagery of the terracotta warriors, the artist put both armament and guardian inside a painting, embodying and interpreting traditional Chinese concept of harmony. In terms of painting techniques, the artist creates a Western painting to portray traditional Chinese culture and Chinese folk art, where the Oriental poetic sentiment is conveyed by the oil painting.
