In many parts of southern China, residents of surrounding neighborhoods organize markets on certain days to sell daily commodities. What the painting depicts is the life of the Yi people, who live on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, dressed in their traditional clothing and going to the bustling markets with their family members. The brushstrokes are free and easy with the combination of imagery techniques, Mogu [ink paintings  without outlines] coloring methods and solid ink lines. The simple coloring also vividly depicts the cordial characteristics and genuine manners of the Yi people.
