Peng Wei

Peng Wei, born in 1980 in Nanchong, Sichuan province. Currently associate professor at the School of Fine Arts, Southwest University; member of the Chongqing Artists Association council; and member of the China Artists Association.

The work faithfully reflects the living state in the modern city: twisted buildings, deserted factories, air pollution ̄ Somehow, people living in such a besieged city seem to have no objection towards it. By abstracting and distorting the buildings and piling them up like building blocks, the artist has ridiculed the living environment of the urban residents, and expresses the people»s frustration for and reflection of the hustle and bustle in their lives. It also calls for the reexamination of the urban living environment and efforts to protect the ecosystem.
